Company History

Lloyd Garnett and Ken Houp founded G&H Tool and Die Company and built the original shop in southeast Houston in 1958. Both founders were former employees of a major Houston electrical apparatus company and began G&H by producing tooling for their former company. In an effort to expand the company, Garnett and Houp added production stamping to the list of G&H’s capabilities.

In 1983, Garnett and Houp were looking to sell their company and retire.  Ed and Janan Kash had just returned from a two-year assignment in Venezuela with National Supply Company, when they purchased G&H from Garnett and Houp.  Ed is a Professional Engineer and former employee of Armco Steel Corporation and National Supply Company. Janan is a former Executive Administrator for Sohio Petroleum and Armco Steel Corporation.  When the Kashes bought G&H, the company consisted of 11 employees and had annual revenue of $400,000.

The company was relocated to the northwest side of town in 1986, and G&H began expanding its production of metal stampings and fabrications. In 1992, G&H entered the arena of industrial laser processing of tubular materials as well as flat laser processing.  The growing company needed room to expand, so in 1994 they built the first of the buildings they currently occupy in West Houston.

Ed and Janan saw an opportunity to grow the company and wanted to gain access to the industrial Midwest, so in 1996, G&H built a new facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. This led to G&H being one of the largest laser service providers in the country dedicated to the processing of tubular products.

G&H has continued to expand and meet the needs of its customers.  It employs degreed engineers who are constantly challenging the norm to develop innovative ways to exceed customer expectations through technology and custom machinery.  G&H has grown from its original 11 employees to a team of dedicated people supplying services and products to some of the country’s most sophisticated industries.
