G&H is a leader in CO2 laser processing. We were pioneers in laser cutting tubular goods, and we remain a leader in the market today. Our broad range of laser machines allow us the capabilities to cut tube diameters of up to 24 and wall thicknesses up to 5/8. Between our Houston and Indianapolis plants, we house 17 different laser systems, for both flat and tubular applications. Out of the 17 laser systems, 16 of them are all Bystronic. This allows us to utilize our software, our programmers, our laser system controlers and all parts from system to system. It also allows us great flexibility and the capacity to handle any sized job. Stamping/Forming forming G&H originally began as a stamping and tool and die shop. We continue to service both fields today. We have presses that range in tonnage from 22 tons up to 170 tons. This allows us a broad range of material thicknesses to work with. No job is too big or small. We also offer 4-Slide and Multi-Slide capabilities as well as standard progressive and compound produced parts. One of our advantages is we have many different machines and capabilities. At G&H it is our job to take a customers concept and make it a reality from start to finish. Our tookmakers and engineers experience and skills allow us to do this by performing at optimal efficiency levels while maintaining a tight quality control. We build all stamping dies in shop, and have robotic welders, custom forming tools, 4-slide tooling as well as other custom machinery and assembly tooling. These tooling capabilities allow us to shorten lead times as well as maintain a tight control on quality offering our customers the best possible products at reasonable costs.

In addition, we have been doing wire EDM tooling and work since 1989. Today we have some of the latest wire EDM machines available, which allows us incomparable tooling capabilities and productivities. This enables us to not only create our own tooling, but to also create tooling for customers acting as their wire EDM supplier. Our turnaround time on wire EDM projects is one of the quickest in the industry.

Lloyd Garnett and Ken Houp founded G&H Tool and Die Company and built the original shop in southeast Houston in 1958. Both founders were former employees of a major Houston electrical apparatus company and began G&H by producing tooling for their former company. In an effort to expand the company, Garnett and Houp added production stamping to the list of G&H’s capabilities. In 1983, Garnett and Houp were looking to sell their company and retire. Ed and Janan Kash had just returned from a two-year assignment in Venezuela with National Supply Company, when they purchased G&H from Garnett and Houp. Ed is a Professional Engineer and former employee of Armco Steel Corporation and National Supply Company. Janan is a former Executive Administrator for Sohio Petroleum and Armco Steel Corporation. When the Kashes bought G&H, the company consisted of 11 employees and had annual revenue of $400,000. The company was relocated to the northwest side of town in 1986, and G&H began expanding its...

G&H built a 30,000 sq. ft. climate controlled precision machine shop in June 2008 next door to our original building. This allows us to utilize both shops and move projects seamlessly from one shop to the other leading to greatly reduced lead times by keeping all processes in house. This new building houses some of the best and newest precision machining equipment available. Our personnel combine years of experience from a broad array of industries. This allows us to ensure our customers tight specifications are met time after time. In addition, our own engineers have designed and built custom machinery to better meet the needs of our customers. Welding

G&H is determined to become a major force in the contract welding of components and assemblies. Over the last six months, we have added four robot cells using single and double articulating arm robots. These robot cells are designed for utility, as opposed to being single purpose. Robotic welding has advanced to the point where it is no longer a time consuming and error prone process. The advancements in CNC controls and conversational/teach programming have made these machines much more productive. In short, the number of welds per hour needed to justify this kind of process has declined dramatically. At the same time, the size and complexity of weldable components has increased proportionately. G&H still offers all of the manual and semiautomatic welding capabilities, but the future belongs to the automation found in these new systems. View more welding photos from G&H Diversified.
