The data is finally catching up to what the field already knows. Bottom-set dissolvable plugs were built to reduce material cost - not to maximize isolation. In the early days of dissolvable technology, magnesium was extremely expensive. To keep plug prices down, designs were shortened, and the mandrel was removed. That’s how the bottom-set design was born.
